From nostalgia.2003 to LOVEBUZZ!: Refining an Existing Brand

What started at 17 years old as a hobby turned into a passion project, and eventually into a registered sole proprietorship — LOVEBUZZ!, established with DTI & BIR since April 2024. The brand's core idea has stayed the same since day one: bringing favorites from childhood and nostalgic memories back to life, made into garments.
I established the brand the same year I taught myself to sew. My grandmother lived in the province and worked as a master cutter, and growing up, I'd watch my mother sew in the living room. With LOVEBUZZ!, it felt like I was continuing that thread. It's funny — many of my relatives who grew up around my grandmother have told me I seem to be the only one in my generation who picked sewing back up, let alone turned it into a hobby and, eventually, a business.
The Brand Refresh
The rebrand to LOVEBUZZ! came from Nirvana's song of the same name. Looking back, nostalgia.2003 had started to feel more like a username than an actual brand name. So for the new identity, I wanted something wittier, something that could stand on its own as a name rather than read like a handle. The new logo followed that same intention: a broken heart held together by safety pins, which, in the middle, forms the shape of a lightning bolt. It felt like a better representation of where I wanted the brand to go. I'm planning to bring the original guitar illustration back into the brand at some point too. After all, it's part of where this all started.
The original logo, under the name nostalgia.2003, was inspired by a character from one of my favorite early 2000s movies — Freaky Friday's Anna Coleman. I recreated and reimagined her iconic guitar , then used my own illustration of it as the brand's logo. The "2003" was personal too — the year I was born — and the whole shop was already built around the same idea it has now: bringing childhood favorites back to life, the same instinct behind pieces like the Marceline cat sweater shirt.

2021

2022
Hobby > Passion Project > Business
What began as a personal creative outlet turned into a functioning, growing business with real distribution and consistent year-over-year growth.
As of December 2025, the business has grown to:
More than 2,000 pieces sold
4,400 followers on Shopee
Onboarded to Shopee's international platforms — Singapore & Malaysia
74.6% average annual revenue growth rate
Social Media Performance
@lovebuzzco on TikTok
As of December 2025, I built an organic TikTok presence of 6,500+ followers, with 157,000+ likes and 5,000+ shares across just 10 posts

Top Performing Social Media Contents
3.6 million views
over 700,000 likes, 2,800 comments, 47,100 favorites, and 15,100 shares
organic social media mention
UGC reposted by global artist, Beabadoobee on Tiktok

This is the clearest proof point of the whole brand: a piece of content someone else made, about a product I made, reached a global artist's audience without any outreach on my end. No gifting, no partnership involved. The creator used one of Beabadoobee's own songs as the audio, right at the peak of Sonny Angel's popularity, and the artist reposted it because she genuinely liked it while the creator tagged LOVEBUZZ! in the process.

Video Content using Trending Audio

over 65,100 views
10,400 likes, 68 comments, 695 favorites, and 85 shares

Product Storytelling Video Content

Across everything LOVEBUZZ! has grown into, a few things stand out. Story sells more than product. The storytelling-driven video consistently outperformed content that was purely product-focused, proof that nostalgia works because of the memory attached to something, not just the item itself.
Organic reach can't be manufactured, but it can be earned. The Beabadoobee repost happened without gifting, payment, or outreach, simply because the content was specific enough that someone else wanted to share it further.
A brand refresh doesn't have to mean abandoning the original idea, either. LOVEBUZZ! kept the same core mission as nostalgia.2003, bringing childhood favorites back to life. It just found a sharper, more intentional way to say it. And a hobby really can grow into a real business through consistency rather than a single viral moment. The growth came from staying steady over time. From what started as a personal project at 17 became a registered sole proprietorship with international reach and a 74.6% average annual revenue growth rate. If there's one thing tying all of it together, it's that personal history can be a genuine creative asset.
